Exterior condition: Not very clean. There are scratches, stains, chips, large pieces of plastic missing, and discoloration. No major damage that affects playability, just cosmetic. Some sliders and knobs are a little noisy when turned due to dirt inside. See photos, I took lots of them.
Playability: I would say the playability is very good. I tested the sliders and drawbars. They all seem responsive. The pedals worked, some were unresponsive (never used them). The drawbars and base keyboard controls worked fine.
Other features like vibrato, chorus, reverb, brilliance etc also seem to work fine, the "cymbal percussion" sound works on the lower tier and with the pedal.
What's not working well is the "repeats", which is a kind of repeating percussion sound that can be heard faintly on some keys but louder on others. I don't know what's wrong with it, maybe I have an old capacitor somewhere.
The volume pedal and twin built-in speakers work, but the sound quality isn't the best compared to newer amps.
The inside of this Hammond looks mostly original, so I probably should have replaced the old capacitors sooner, but it's functional, so I figured if it ain't broke, don't fix it. I think a refresh will bring it back to life a bit more.
TESTING: Please understand that I have tested it as best as I can. I think it will play as is. I am not a Hammond technician (are there still any?). I will answer questions to the best of my ability, but don't expect a brand new organ. It's 50 years old.
Reason for selling: I've been using this organ in my studio because I wanted the tone wheels. It doesn't sound great, but it's big and heavy for a keyboard. I've been using it with a Yamaha RA-70 amp, but of course a Leslie is best, especially if you have a preamp. The electronic vibrato and reverb are great, so it sounds great on its own. I'm sad to let it go, but it's too big to return, as I decided to sell some of the equipment I had when I left Japan.
Comes with: power cord, bakelite half-moon Leslie control, extra tonewheel oil, music stand (removed). The Leslie connection box is inside. I have not tested this connector or the switch. I do not have a Leslie. The switch is in good condition. Spider is free :P
This organ is American power supply standard.
60 Hz / 110 volts. In Japan, it can be used at 100 volts, but in the Kanto region, it is 50Hz, so the sound is 3 to 4 semitones off. There are converters that change the frequency or lower the power. I didn't care and just played it as it was. I needed to transpose it. Osaka is 60hz, so I think it's fine.
Delivery: Local pickup in Sakado, Saitama, or courier pickup at buyer's expense can be arranged. Either is fine. We can help you load it. It takes 2 people. It's easy to pull the truck/van up to your building. If you have a dolly or mobile platform you can roll it through the door into the truck.
